Sam and Lee,
Agreed that some gooseberries are better than others. Though at 1800'
here in east Tenn we rarely get into the 90s, our Glenndale plants far
outproduce the 7-8 other cultivars we are trying. During a Southern
Fruit fellowship meeting here several years back, Glenndale was the
favorite for fresh eating, for those expressing a preference. Our
family feels the same. For cobblers, ice cream, fresh frozen fruit
snacks, etc, we've tripled our planting of Glenndale last year. The
vigor and yield beats everything else we have tried.

Was evaluating the Gooseberry/Currant collection at the Germplasm
repository earlier this week at Corvallis, Oregon. There, Glenndale
did not stand out against most others, in terms of vigor or yield. It
was though, along with some others, untouched by the mildew
devastating many cultivars.

Jahn's Prairie and OT126 looked very clean and happy as well.
Invicta, as here, was suffering from sunburned fruit.
