Edible Landscaping nursery, in Virginia, lists 3 virginianas, 1 hybrid, and no less than 14 different kakis. Many of them, not all, it describes as self-fertile. They do not mention a male tree. I haven't called them, just looked at their website, but with such an extensive collection they might be a good resource to ask questions to.

Some kaki and virginiana also produce seedless fruit with amply amounts of pollen available.
I've got one local D.virginiana selection that produces mostly small(1") seedless fruits and occasional larger (1.5") fruits, each of which typically contains a single, slightly plumper-than-normal seed. Plenty of potential pollenizers nearby.
I've yet to think to visit it during bloom period to inspect the blossoms as to 'gender' or perfection.
