This year nearly rivals 1998 for late growth when we had juneberries ripening in August
the juneberries and raspberries are are nearly ripe on July 14th,
hazelnuts are producing like never before, suddenly the woods are obviously teeming with wild hazelnuts, two different species. Its been a great year for blossom set and survival.
milkweeds and blackberries are in full flower
turtles are still laying eggs
wild honeysuckles have green fruit
best to all
Kevin
PS There will be an interesting article on the Whitney Crab in the Capitol Times on Monday the 26th of July. It mentions a Whitney Crab apple festival in a small town in Il that originated that apple.
