I have kept and used them untill late Fall and then a lot of them if not dried out etc have callused and I have stuck them In the ground or a old wood chip pile and over the winter they have rooted and in spring started growing. I stick them in till there is only one bud showing.
And Rob the MNGA meeting is on April 3rd an will be in the Ag building auditorium at MSU . E mail me for more info.

Rob,
We're talking months, not years.
I've used Feb/March-collected scions on into late June/early July, but usually, by that time, the current year's growth is sufficiently mature to start using some of it for greenwood budding.
