I've got two geese. They eat green stuff, but don't seem esp interested in insects. They will eat apple drops I give them if I first stomp on the apples. The chickens stratch, go after bugs, eat green stuff, love the squoosed apple drops, and can fly, although they have learned to stay inside their fence or dogs will chase them. The ducks go after greens and bugs. They do not scratch about, but enjoy dabbling in mud puddles, and can create minor pits during rainy season. I just got a pair Muscovy ducks--they are supposed to be fearsome insect predators and will catch flies on the fly. The clowns are the broad breasted white turkeys. They waddle along to beg dandelion leaves (preferring me to pick them and hand feed them). They eat green stuff and bugs, range through the small pasture, and once mature become too heavy to fly. The grasshopper population took a real hit. They are horribly expensive to buy and raise to this size, however, being voracous eaters of grain. Would recommend Muscovies with a predator-proof night pen, a wading pool, and wings clipped..
