Is there a chance I could get some scion wood from you in the spring?  I had a seedling Great Wall that died back to the rootstock it’s first year.  The 4 years later the rootstock is now a healthy tree and I would love to try grafting on some fruiting varieties.  I’m in zone 6b.

Greetings all,

Here in Arlington, Ma ( zone 6 ) without special protection, I have 'Great Wall' and 'Ichi' Kaki persimmons that have both grown well (6 years) and fruited ( for 2 years). Last winter went down to -4 F. The Great Wall had some tip dieback but did fine, although fruiting is sparse. The Ichi died back just above the graft and is now only 4 ft. tall.

I was wondering why nobody talks about growing 'Hachiya' here in the East. Michael, from Edible Landscaping also has not heard of anyone growing it in the East. Could it be that the fruits are so large that they need a longer growing season?
