From what you wrote, could it be the grafts JUST BARELY took, enough to lookOK in mild weather, but not enough to thrive in the hotter temperatures ?

Hmmmâ¦well this years graft take were about the worst ever 51 out of 56 grafts : (
Two of the grafts I expected to fail did fail (bad looking buds), but the other three perplexed me. All three were Hudson Golden Gems and all three leafed out and held for a couple of months and then withered away under the heat. I thought I had good takes, but then they just died. Does anyone have any idea what caused this? I like to learn from my mistakes and turn failures into learning experiences. They were located in a nursery bed with the other grafts and received no different care. The leaves jsut sort of curled up, withered and died. All three were lcoated in different areas of the nursery bed. All the grafts were on M27.
Thanking you in advance for any consideration you give this matter,
The fluffy bunny
