- Subject: [NAFEX] Currant - variety Cherry
- Date: Mon, 21 Apr 2003 10:18:48 -0400
Hello All,
I have a couple of currant varieties and noticed while pruning that some
sucker heavily, while
others sucker very lightly.
Does anyone have a "Cherry" red currant that suckers very lightly?
My rule of "thumb" for currants is to prune out anything that has the same
diameter as my thumb,
right to the ground.
If I did that to my Cherry variety there would be not be much left. This
particular variety does
not fruit very much at all, but as a bush is very healthy and prosperous.
Any ideas?
Later,
Tom.
