Jackie:

I, for one, would prefer to have articles written for POMONA as opposed to
e-mails. Is there anyway that I can assist you in this? How many artricles
do you typically need in an issue?
Thanks

Good morning, NAFEX. Let me weigh in with a comment on this issue.
Briefly, I appreciate everyone who takes the time to write an article
for Pomona. If I had enough material sent to me to fill each issue, I
would not take ANY information from this list. It is never my intention
to infringe on anyone's copyright, and I get people's permission before
printing their emails; on rare occasions when someone has just
contributed a question or a very short comment, I may change it slightly
and include it without the person's name. If I have done that to you
and you do not want me to do so again, my apologies, and please email me
to that effect. I maintain a list of people who have given me blanket
permission to use emails, and those who have told me to ask their
permission first, and I try to adhere carefully to each member's wishes.
The material shared here is often extremely helpful, and would be
valuable to electronically-challenged NAFEXers too, who would not see it
if it were not in print.

Once more, however, let me reiterate that if our members send me enough
articles to fill each journal, I will not need to go gleaning from
emails, and I will not do so.

Thanks for all your help, information, and articles!

Sincerely,

Jackie Kuehn
editor-in-chief, Pomona

comments, and some of the popular support others gave to the idea of
violating the implicit "natural" copyright of an author that allows them to
control dissemination of their work. Some contributors find the idea of the
electronic, uncontrolled dissemination of submissions abhorrent. I count
myself among them.

The concerns voiced then have proven prophetic. This list has resulted in
less material being publishes in POMONA. It also has lead to decline in the
participation of some older members, or perhaps more accurately stated the
digital divide has made some of our senior members feel alienated, isolated,
and as de facto second class NAFEX members. I suspect it has also
resulted in slightly less revenue flowing to the NAFEX coffers. Of course
there are many positive aspects to the list-server among them a new virtual
NAFEX community has developed and members and non-members get timely
resolution to issues.
