How possible would it be for someone to do a
demonstration of in-home micropropagation at the NAFEX
or SFF meetings??

Rob,
I remember in an old issue of Organic Gardening that a college student =
was working with some willow whips and had placed them in water to begin =
rooting. When the rooting took place and the willows were planted, he =
took the excess water that they rooted in and watered some tomato =
seedling. As a result, he saw a significant increase in root =
development and plant growth over tomatoes that did not receive the =
"willow water". I would probably take a gallon container, fill it with =
water and place willow whips in it. Wait for the roots to develop and =
you have your willow water.
Hope that helps,
Brian

Doug
I do own a copy of Fruit, Berry and Nut Inventory. There is not a listing
of Shiawassee apple in my edition. It was the first place that I looked.
Thanks Gordon

I am occasionally surprised to see that there are apparently people out
there writing to this list who don't own a copy of the Seed Saver
publication: Fruit, Berry and Nut Inventory. I'm still getting by with the
'93 2nd edition, but I know the 3rd edition is out. I grafted Shiawassee
onto P-22 about 15 years ago. The fruit matches the description in the
book.
