Hi Gordon,
According to Tom Burford's book, Apples, A Catalog of International
Varieties, Shiawassee, (AKA Shiawassee Beauty and Michigan Beauty),
originated in Vernon, Michigan, as a seedling of Fameuse in the orchard of
Beebe Trusdell and first fruited in 1850. It is described as medium in size
with yellow skin almost completely covered with a red flush and carmine
streaks. It has crisp, tender, moderately juicy white flesh with a subacid
flavor. It has a strong aroma and ripens in September.

Hope this information helps.
