Dear NAFEX Members:
Sorry about my first attempt with this posting. I should have deleted the diacritical marks.
I recently joined NAFEX to learn more about growing heirloom apples and the process of beginning a home heirloom apple orchard. I have been able to find practically all of the cultivars I have been after with the exception of one: Reinette Rouge Etoilee. I am hoping someone on this list is familiar with this apple and may have some suggestions as to where to obtain this cultivar here in the States. I have already spoken with Nick Botner in Oregon, Joyce Neighbors in Alabama and John Bunker here in Maine. I have also done searches for it via the Internet, yet can only find it in the UK and abroad. Botner has a cultivar called Reinette Etoilee on his list, but I’ve read on one website that this is a synonym for a cultivar called Reine des Reinettes which I believe is a different apple altogether. They could indeed be the same apple. The Book of Apples lists Reinette Rouge Etoilee as having the following two synonyms: Calville Etoilee and Early Red Calville of Hogg. I have also seen it referred to as Rote Sternrenette. Is anyone on the list growing this apple? I am very interested in tracking down some scion wood for grafting this Spring and am open to any suggestions for suppliers. I am also interested in hearing about anyone’s experiences growing it.
Here are a couple of photographs of Reinette Etoilee and Rote Sternrenette which appear quite similar to each other (as well as to the color plate of Reinette Rouge Etoilee in The Book of Apples):

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
