Del, I've only eaten the flower petals, as my plant was not self-fertile. I
sent it to Georgia to be with some others. Ray Givan, near Savannah, enjoys
feijoa petals in spring. Robert in Atlanta appears adventurous, and Feijoa
should grow better there than sea buckthorn. How well it will FRUIT in
Atlanta is a mystery to me!

You have to have the heat too.
I live on the Oregon coast in zone 8 and I am still waiting to see any blossoms let alone fruit.
In CA where we came from I could pick them off the bush for a long period of time and they blossomed easily.
I brought the same plant here so I know it fruited.
No luck here in 12 years.
I figure it is just too cool here.
We have a long season but it does not get hot at any time.
The plums start blooming in Feb. and we are still picking asian pears in Nov.
This year it was Dec., almost Xmas.
We have had no frost this year at all.
Some of the leaves are still on the fruit trees and vines.
