Bundles of cuttings were taken in the fall just after leaf drop and buried most of their depth in sand.  By spring, a large percentage had rooted.  It has been over 20 years, so I''m not sure of all the details now.  This was in Salem, Oregon, so the climate was definitely milder than yours.

Lon, I presume  you were getting cuttings for propagating, my attempt at
propagating crandalls like  currants or grapes - flopped, clues?  Del
