I've always avoided the Hansen Bush Cherries. All the
catalogs (I've seen) have this same picture of a woman
kneeling by a bush in bloom. She looks like she's
wearing a dress from the '50s and the picture is fuzzy
(reproduced too many times?). Something about this
always made me think "warning".

Tried Jan & Joy a number of years ago (Joel was not
yet available (to my knowledge)). The plants I received
were small and either died the summer of the year planted
or the winter following. Attempted a reorder, without any
success.

I have a Nanking seedling from Bear Creek, into its 2nd year
of bloom. But no fruit as yet (I'm not sure that Nanking is
self-fertile). It's currenlty 3-5 feet and would be higher
if I let it.
I also have a Lee's #8 which I believe is also a Nanking. It
was very small when received (either the year I received the
Bear Creek seedling or the year before). Only this year
has it attained enough growth that I'm planning to move it
next to my existing "planted-out" bush.
