I have used "Stylet Oil", a food grade mineral oil on gooseberries and
currants for a number of years now. It is very effective in controlling
powdery mildew and aphids. There is also a good bit of evidence that it
reduces some of the leaf diseases and I think it helps control currant worm.
It is recommended that it be appliedin very small droplets, at a high PSI and
I use a 1.25 to 1.50 percent. I have used it at two week intervals throughout
the summer.

This material is also used on grapes, muskmelons and other plants that are
susceptible to mildew.
