I don't pretend to be an expert on chestnuts, but some selections are
better pollenizers than others, while some(I think Colossal is one) are
actually pollen-sterile. Even if both your trees are producing viable
pollen, if their pollen shed/nutlet receptivity periods don't overlap
adequately, you won't get nuts that fill.
Some of the other list members with more experience may be able to
elucidate further.
