I believe that this is why it is usually used to make elderberry wine. I
have a couple, but don't even bother with them. I leave them for the birds.

I've never sampled the named selections, like York, Adams, John, etc., but
have eaten quite a few wild ones. Never was very impressed with any
particular flavor. Guess if I was desperate for something to eat, they'd
be worth spending the time on, but unless the cultivated ones are a whole
lot better than my natives, I won't be planting any.
