Tom,
This seems taller than what I normally get.
Have you considered if the amount of light available may have influenced the
length of your emerging seedling? While not as tender as most vegetable
seedlings, I would think that light is a big influence and results can be
largely dependent on candle power. This would be an interesting project to do
under fluorescent lighting ............. vic
