For most modern releases, parentage shouldn't be a question. There
are pedigrees that go with these going back a few generations. For
the older ones and open pollinated varieties, I see where this can be
an issue. Another problem I see is that names for varieties are not
unique. One variety can have many names, and many apples can have
the same name. I think uncertainties can be handled by a comment or
citation field in the database.
Thanks for your feedback. If you have some variety information you
would like to share with the group, I could create a new online
database out of it for you.
