I've grown out some healthy peach seedlings for spring grafting. I don't
spray anything, and brown rot is by far my worst peach problem. Anyone have
suggestions for brown-rot resistant peach or nectarine varieties I can put
on my seedlings?
None of the following proved resistant to brown rot:
- Mericrest nectarine
- Redskin peach
- Indian Blood peach
- Heath Cling peach
- Oldmixon Free peach
- Legend peach
- October peach
- "Burford Early" peach
- New Haven peach --- This was the only variety which even showed much
tolerance to brown rot
- Red Gold Nectarine
- June Gold peach --- One year brown rot-free when everything else got it,
probably because it is so early
- Carolina Red peach
- Pocahontas nectarine
Varieties recently planted because I read rumors of brown rot
tolerance/resistance:
- Harrow Diamond peach
- Madison peach
- Harcrest peach
- Elberta peach
Thanks!
