There is one odd story that I can't verify or deny, namely that chestnut
pollen was able to stimulate development of parthenocarpic Meader
persimmons. Since I have chestnuts on the property, I can't swear they
aren't the cause of my seedless persimmons, though I know other people in
the area with Meader persimmon that get seedless fruit with no chestnuts
around. Further, the Meader tree is just far enough from male persimmons
that I rarely get seeded fruit on it. I did have a male limb on the tree at
one time, though, and the Meader was all seeded then.
