The closer of the two fires has burned over 13,500 acres (5400 ha)
and at this point they are waiting on the summer monsoon rains to
contain it. The fire is now mostly cross-wind to town so our risk
is lower. Abiquiu to our north is more at risk. The main concern
is that burning debris gets blown out of the fire area and falls
downwind, where some of the debris starts "spot" fires.
I won't be crossing state lines to evacuate this fire, but thanks
Karen for the reminder about requirements for legal transport of
livestock other than horses.
