The best defense is the good sense not to
let anyone get within lunging distance. No cop would let a person get
that close, and cops have guns. The second defense is your horse.
You can swing into the offender, outrun him, or even run over him. Also,
be ready for your horse to make a move on his own in self defense. In Pennsylvania you just arrest the idiot.
It is a felony to harass a search horse, on or off duty, 24/7, and that means a
ranger can use deadly force to stop him even if us civilians can’t.
