Karen, double decker trucks are used for livestock transport throughout the
western US. To load the truck, a livestock chute is used. It can be long
and gradual, or short and steep. It will be narrow, so the animals cannot
turn around, have a ribbed floor for secure footing, and have high sides so
the animals cannot fall or jump off.
Rodeo grounds, livestock auction facilities, and ranch roadheads will have
permanent loading chutes constructed. For temporary usage, portable chutes
are manufactured by several companies. There are patents filed on some of
these chutes.
Humane loading of unschooled animals really is no big deal, for people who
know what they are doing.
