Chris,
I would look at Trails West trailers.  Also on your truck look at transmissions.  Your 3/4 ton tranny may not be as stout as the 1 ton.  I haven't checked that recently, but it may still hold true.  Are you going automatic or manual?  I have found that coming down steep rutted mountain roads that a manual gives better control and saves a LOT of wear on the brakes.  However if you can put an auto in 4X4  it is as good as first but not as good as granny low.  Depends on what kind of terrain you are hauling over.  Losing brakes on a bad downhill is NO fun, been there and done that.
Good luck and have fun spending money!!

P.S. Paul,  The oval head was a gift from my parents  didn't even know about it until i went to buy my first helmet.  Of course taking so many falls off young, stupid, bucking horses probably didn't help either.  LOL

Now I need to wrap my brain around the sheer SIZE of the newer trucks.
Have any of you stood next to a Chevy 2500 Silverado? It's HUGE. I'm
tall and the top rail comes almost to my shoulder! I don't even want to
think about throwing tack over that rail and into the bed!!!

Thanks again all!

(any recommendations on brand/type of three horse trailers? That's also
in the works! I usually haul only two beasts at once, and we have a
couple of two horse trailers, but we have three horses and in our fire
prone area we need one to hold them all - just in case.)

yes

be sure and look at the Ford trucks and seriously look at the Exiss Trailers. The interior insulation is worth the extra money! also the 6 inch extra width.

Any more questions?  My son is an expert in these things and can answer lots of questions.
