Pardon me, but this person has over a 1000 head of horses...and if I recall
it was said, they were maverick mustangs....I have to question having any
type of plan to be able to move those types of animals in any emergency...in
a situation Irv is pretty much corredct in how he suggests handling them.

As for the owner of such beasts, though it is commendable to care for the
horses and want them out, when yo mention the owner of said animals and that
you do not care one way or the other about him or her, what are you doing in
search and rescue???

I personally own 12 equines and it would be a monumental procedure for me
to evacuate any of them in case of an emergency such as fire. nThat is a far
cry from 1000 or more head to do.

The safety of the people involved in this matter is more of a priority.
Nothing worse than a panic of both people and wild or domestic horses in any
fire situation. Be reminded that horses will run blindly into the flames and
have been known to go back into burning buildinsa and the like as well and as
cruel as this sounds, you are facing a situation of loss of livestock. Don't
let it be your life too.

And I know it is very diffucly not to panic in this given situation....and
harder still to be riding a full pack and manning your communications
systems. etc.

How many of us are set for a round up of such nature? wild horses?
fire...or even without the element of fire? How many of us can deal with
loading so many horses, no less wild ones in a calm situation. Folks loading
up wild beasts into a trailer under a panic situation is just not going to
happen. However, getting those people out of harms way should.
