NASAR (National Association for Search And Rescue) has a committee developing Mounted Search And Rescue (MSAR) standards. MSAR riders around the world are invited to join the "NASAR MSAR Standards" Group online to provide input to the NASAR MSAR Standards Task Force. (For more information on NASAR, visit www.nasar.org  ) This is not a discussion forum, but is designed to function as an online Opinion Poll through member votes. This is a great opportunity for all those who are active in Mounted SAR to contribute to MSAR standards developed through NASAR. You do not need to be a member of NASAR to participate, but you need to be signed up as a Group member to share your opinion with the committee.

Please share this invitation with others active in MSAR. MSAR personnel can join the Group and express opinions on http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/NASAR-MSAR  New Opinion Polls have just been posted regarding practical testing for MSAR. You can express your opinion online in the VOTE section.

As a brief summary, we are creating core MSAR standards that are intended to address fundamental requirements for all MSAR, suitable for any region. The core MSAR standards will be in three levels, including an entry level of MSAR III.  NASAR's SARTECH II status is a prerequisite for MSAR II, the corresponding field level. The standards are designed so additional areas of MSAR certification can be added, as needed, after MSAR II is attained. For example, an individual or team might choose to add training specific to Wilderness MSAR.

While the NASAR MSAR Task Force has representatives from around the country, we also seek direct input from subject matter experts, and we look forward to getting input from all MSAR riders. With your help, we can create MSAR Standards that are appropriate for all.
