One popular way to deal with vast quantities of e-mail
is to use a "threaded" e-mail client. If your client
doesn't know how to thread e-mails, one work-around is
to read the MSAR-Riders traffic via its web archive by
thread:
https://lists.ibiblio.org/sympa/arc/msar-riders/2003q4/thread.html
To post in a thread, if your client does not do it by
default, copy from the previous e-mail the header line
that begins with "Message-ID:", change "Message-ID:"
to "References:", and put that in the header of your
e-mail.
Eg, Terry's e-mail with the subject "Lets change the
tone" has this header line, generated automatically
by his e-mail client:
Message-ID: <002d01c3977e$cd6f4200$5cb391ce@pavilion>
My followup e-mail on the same subject has its own
Message-ID, and also refers to the original Message-ID
from Terry's e-mail:
Message-ID: <20031021105845.A28087@ibiblio.org>
References: <002d01c3977e$cd6f4200$5cb391ce@pavilion>
Hope this helps,
Una
