PRESS RELEASE (EDITED FOR MONKEYWIRE)

The Great Ape Project USA, which is devoted to establishing civil rights
for apes, is seeking to tell the life stories of the over 2000 bonobos,
chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans in the USA to the general public.

GAP has selected several individuals who will be featured on bead bracelets
we call "Equality Links." We are offering these at a low cost and each one
displays the name of one nonhuman ape enduring a situation of human-imposed
oppression. By wearing an Equality Link, you show your solidarity with
fellow apes, and may also pursue conversations with others who may ask you
about the name on your bracelet. Because you will receive a card that
describes the situation of that
particular individual, you will be equipped with information to discuss the
situation. This may lead to further awareness and consideration of the
problems orangutans, gorillas, bonobos, and chimpanzees face today.

Please consider wearing an Equality Link as a catalyst for discussion and as
a reminder of the lives of nonhuman great apes.

To order, please send check or money order of $11 ($10 for bracelet plus $1
shipping and handling) for each Equality Link, to:
