Winner hybrid performs best (and tastes best) out of so many varieties tested in our tropical conditions.  Especially in large quantities, Johnny's prices reasonable.

Best wishes to all,

Talking about kohlrabi ... seeds for hybrid are mighty expensive.  It's
not so bad when transplanting, but I want to direct-sow my kohlrabi next
spring.  Given this is a low-revenue crop, I cannot justify thinning
expensive hybrids.  Any suggestion for an OP variety (or a cheap hybrid)
that is performing decently?

I was thinking about trying White Vienna from William Dam.

Hi Andy,

Our purple kohlibri is coming in real nicely. I'm also growing kossak for the first time but we haven't started harvesting it yet. I'll let you know if we run into any cracking. I will say it hasn't sized up the way we'd anticipated. They're nice looking "bulbs" but nothing enormous like described. I think the purple is as big and a little better looking at this point.

We'll see how they turn out though. And I'll keep you posted if we run into cracking.

Hi,

I am growing Kossack Kohlrabi for the first time and am encountering cracking in all sizes of the kohlrabi. Some is cracked in the field and some cracks when the stems are trimmed off.  The other varieities of kohlrabi I've grown, mainly Kolibri, have never cracked.  Has anyone else seen cracking in their kohlrabi?  Are some varieties more susceptible?

Andy
