I just checked; they now say I'm in 6a, lowest expected winter temperature between -5 and -10 F. I don't think I'm going to argue about that. We haven't seen a temperature even that cold so far this winter; and I haven't seen a low colder than the single digits below in some years, though we did use to occasionally get temperatures a few degrees colder than that. What's a far bigger problem than a change in the lowest temperature of the winter is the increase in winter days -- and often winter nights -- that are above freezing, which leads to insufficient hardening off in plants that are likely to then be damaged when the temperature does drop; and the disruption in rainfall patterns. -- Rivka; Finger Lakes NY, Zone 6A now I think Fresh-market organic produce, small scale On Jan 31, 2012, at 8:43 PM, KAKerby AT aol.com wrote: I saw the below exclamation and sorta felt the same way.
