There are also heat zone maps for summer temps, of course the USDA doesn't publish one that I know of, I think they are based on the average number of days above 86 degrees and I think its geared more toward avoiding heat damage than anything else just as the hardiness is more geared toward avoiding frost damage.

I noticed the American Horticultural society hadn't updated their maps online, guess it takes them a while LOL
 
I've seen other maps detailing average high and low temps. but of course those are separate maps for each month.  Its pretty difficult to incorporate a ton of diverse info into one map for a large area
 
I've found the frost dates vary quite a bit from here to areas only 5-10 miles away so I tend to look more at more detailed local charts than maps.  I think the maps are useful but in a more macroscopic manner and as a starting point for deciding which crops one can plant, usually new ones I haven't tried here before, not when to plant them.
