We've had excellent luck storing root crops in unperforated large 2 mil plastic bags from Uline. We punch holes in the bottom of each bag with a serrated knife and that has been adequate to drain excess moisture and keep carrots and beets from October to April.

I've not heard of using these for potatoes but they are great for carrots,
beets, and other root crops.
