Has anybody else out there had
problems with E&R Seed? I have to say that I have had a lot of
problems with them. I bought 4 different kinds of Sweet corn two years in
a row and had only 10% germination rates at best while the Johnny's corn I
bought did just fine, though its way too expensive. Some things I bought
from E&R were fine like the broccoli and about half the cabbage types I
bought but others, like the Dutch flat, had dismal germination rates of less
than 25% under the same conditions, of course the packages claim they got 85%.on
average They make substitutions when I've asked them not to as well.
When I've inquired about these and other things it takes forever to get a
response and even then its only a letter bragging about how fast they have
grown, how successful they are and how, as such, it can't be their problem no
matter what the issue. I've also had problems with billing and solving
anything with them when there is a problem, which seems to happen a lot in my
experience, is just plain painful. One time, when I tried to order by
phone they claimed my card wasn't any good, rejected my order, then two
weeks later processed the order with the same card number without notifying
me when I had already gone elsewhere to buy my seed. That's
just plain illegal. I looked at comments I saw on the
internet about them and saw that I'm not the only one who has had
these sorts of problems, which didn't make me feel better but helped make up my
mind that the situation probably won't get better though other people did seem
to think they were a good source . I have to say
they looked like a good source to me at first and their prices would be
pretty good if I got good seed and service but I think I'm going to have to
write them off which sucks because its tough getting untreated seed in any
variety especially with sweet corn.
Oh well such is life I
guess
