Yes.  Same plant -- as far as I can tell in that mass of vines.  Younger plants have not done the same thing -- still making the regular long gourds.

Growing season about 4 months -- depending on weather, of course.  Too dry or too wet causes shut down of fruit production.

Karen - Just to be clear: you are seeing this change on plants in the course of their development (rather than in different plantings) I mean, you are saying you have taken full length fruits from plants that are now producing "berries"? (How long of a growing season do these fruit need?)
