We also have begun taking EBT cards and use the wooden nickel system. We are strictly CNG and our prices are on the high side and we got a grant to double the dollars bought with the EBT. This has helped us get a large number of EBT card holders into our market. With 19 farmers we pull in about $1000 a week in wooden dollars. Vendors cash them in at the end of each market. I'm confident taking rgular credit cards would also help quite bit. We're working on that.

Lloyd,
Don't know if this helps, but it's how we enable card transactions for
all vendors:
Our market (http://www.abingdonfarmersmarket.net/) uses the EBT
system, which allows customers to purchase wooden tokens with their
cards. Hence every vendor at the market gets the benefit, at a
fraction of the cost (and time?) of multiple vendors buying/doing
their own setup.
As for increased sales, it varies week to week, but the tokens can be up to 20%.
Contact our market manager at the site above for more details.

Hello, everyone -
Does anyone have any experience with taking credit/debit cards at markets?
We are considering doing this, based on customer feedback and researchThanks!
showing pretty good sales increases. It requires setting up a merchant
account (which we have had before) and the right wireless equipment to do
it. IF you do take cards at your markets, what brand/model equipment do you
use?
