I haven't seen any cuke beetles yet, but I was out looking for them and other unwelcome guests last night. I heard that they are marching in from the west...must be Kansas! At any rate, my cuke beetle infestation was way down last year, did anyone else find that to be the case? Could it have been the weather or my rotation or something else going on? We had a cool, wet summer. I try to implement companion planting table info to encourage beneficial insects, etc.

Yes, they seem to be bent on global domination. We went from one or two here and there to heavy infestation in two days time. We have mostly the spotted ones. We keep hoping the bats will find us and our free insect buffet. In the meantime, I've spent a few hours hand picking the slower dumber ones into a bucket of soapy water. My business partner is looking into organic spray controls and I'm sure will post what she finds that might work. In the meantime, though, my hand picking a couple of times has seemed to keep them in check. They've not taken out entire crops, but they do a lot of leaf damage particularly to the curcurbits and the tomatoes.
