Bob When you use 30% shade on lettuce, other
greens, what is the impact on water consumption and plant size? Do you reduce
water consumption at all? Do you get better quality? How do you set up the
shade cloth over your crop? Sorry if I’m asking you to give up secrets! Bill William H. Shoemaker Sr. Research Specialist, Food Crops 630-584-7254, FAX-584-4610 From:

[mailto:market-farming-bounces AT lists.ibiblio.org] On Behalf Of sunnfarm AT netscape.com I found that 30% reduces temps around 10 degrees but more
importantly any shade reduces the heat buildup in the leaves from direct
sunlight which I think is worse than high air temps. I use 50-55 and
30% and prefer 30%. Over time I plan to replace all my shade with 30%... Bob. Sunny Meadow Farm
Hi All. I want to try shading lettuce and spinach this
year. My idea is to put shade cloth over low tunnel hoops and stake
down. For those doing this, what shading do you recommend - 30%, 50%, 60%
