I think your chances of success will be
greatly improved if you “harden-off” the transplants well. Put them
outside in a protected place where they can get sunshine and light breezes. The
stems will build fiber, strengthening them and preparing them for rougher
conditions. You can bring them back in at night. I‘ve known growers who
used hay wagons to move their plants in and out of a building to harden them
off with limited handling. After several days (4-5) they’ll toughen up
considerably. Keep any eye on them as they’ll dry out quicker outside. You
