We harvested and cleaned most of our crops. The PYOs were
strawberries which were squat low, but others were peas, beans, and some things
a few folks really wanted - not peppers, fennel on a regular basis, pac choi. If
they really wanted something I hadn't picked (or didn't pick because they didn't
sell and I wasn't going to grow more) they would gladly pick. With the
advertised PYOs (strawberries, raspberries, peas, beans) we (and some CSA
members) picked some to have for those who physically couldn't pick, or the few
who just wanted to get their stuff and run. Some members brought grandchildren
with them specifically to expose them to how food is grown. One member with 2
preschoolers never wanted to take the time to pick anything. But, any week
there was only one crop they needed to pick. And on a survey I did get feedback
that some thought that was too much. But, they have other stuff to choose
from.
