There's a book that goes into it in a fair amount of detail. I haven't tried anything out of it, but it sounded reasonable and well researched, at least.

What are peoples experiences with interplanting crops? I was looking at planting lettuce, onions ( green onions), radishes with tomatoes. How does this work? What problems have you encountered/experienced? What other crops work well together, from experience, what crops don't work well.
