Franklin,
Knowing where you are located makes a huge difference in the types of grapes that will work for you, particularly for cold hardiness and resistance to diseases common to your area.

That said, I recommend you contact Lon Rombough:
lonrom AT hevanet.com
Lon has a book out called "The Grape Grower".  Have been to his place a couple of times, and seeing all his grapes shows he knows what he writes about.

My experience in NE TN/SW VA, a humid, zone 6 USDA cold hardiness zone:
The two grapes that have done the best for us have been Alwood and Cynthiana (Norton).  Both are Va Tech releases, selected for this area.  Have never sprayed either, and they have cropped multiple years.  But proper pruning and spacing is vital for good air flow, hence fungal disease suppression.

There likely have been State Ag Extension trials in your area on table grapes, and you can often access this info online.  Your county ag extension agent often has print copies of recommended grapes, or can get them quickly.

Glad to recommend nurseries for vines, if needed.

SW VA, where heavy rains cracked many German Johnson tomatoes, so we are reduced to reducing them to sauce.  Aroma is wonderful!

Hello Folks...where can I get purple grape vines that are not bothered by black rot? The few vines that I have now...to make jams and jelly for myself...are bothered by black rot every year...and I'm tired of spraying them for what I get off them. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Franklin
