2 Liter soda bottles are a better thermal flywheel [buffer]. They will work better because they have more surface area for the contents compared to gallon jugs and therefore give up [and absorb] their heat quicker. Dave

Put a full gallon jug of water next every plant or at least every other plant if you don't have enough jugs. Another layer of row cover will help as well.
