I've used 3-yr greenhouse plastic on my metal tunnel 3 times without using the paint. It always lasts 4 years. By that time the plastic is getting so cloudy I want new plastic anyway. If you can't afford new plastic every 4 years in your HiTunnel, you're not optimizing your system.

The skirt and end poly on my house are 1992 poly. For livestock housing, and for Hort that can work with low light, (christmas tree seedlings) we plan on 10 years for 4year poly. The 2 - 3 - or 4 year rating is mostly in relation to darkening from age and the amount of UV inhibitors in it.
Did you see the back of the Robert Marvel catalog with the pic of crew standing on the top of a greenhouse plastic?
It is also here!
