Michelle, Poast Herbicide, "Sethoxydim". Is a very safe and 100% effective
way to control grasses in most fruit and vegetable crops. Bindweed is
strictly a hand pulling affair...Bob.

Thanks for the suggestion- I will try that! As for bindweed- does anything
stop that?? Talk about relentless.... If only my vegetables had that much
tenacity towards growing.

I've had good success with a heavy application of leaves. The canes grow
right through them, but the grasses have much more trouble, especially if
the canes are thick enough to shade the interior of the row. Leaves aren't
so good against bindweed, which continues to be a problem for me.
