Michelle:  There are bind weed mites that destroy bindweed.  Check with your ag extension agent/ag dept to see if they're available in your state.

Thanks for the suggestion- I will try that!  As for bindweed- does anything
stop that??  Talk about relentless....  If only my vegetables had that much
tenacity towards growing.

I've had good success with a heavy application of leaves. The canes grow
right through them, but the grasses have much more trouble, especially if
the canes are thick enough to shade the interior of the row. Leaves aren't
so good against bindweed, which continues to be a problem for me.
