David,

yeah, we have it offset and drive back and forth for 2row/bed and then center it for doing single row or triples.
we don't have a guidance system, but tighten the turnbuckles pretty good and don't get noticeable lateral movement.

cons: not knowing how much seed is in the hopper, or if it is in fact seeding while you are on the tractor (although it always has)
expense
learning curve (but nice to use once you've got it figured out)
requires a tractor, fuel, electrical connection etc. (can't throw it over your shoulder like an earthway)

pros: seeds anything even goofy shaped flower seed and the aforementioned salsify and scorzonera.

you'll be amazed at how little seed you use, better crops, etc.

spacing: from 3/4 inch for carrots/onions, up to 6 feet or better for pumpkins

are you using the seedstick from Johnny's? pretty handy for putting something in quick.

Bill,

Sure, it's really nice to talk to someone who has used something before plunking down the funds. ours runs off of a shop vac--may seem "rigged" but has not caused any problems and they are not expensive if the vacuum fails.

Scott
