Hi Roxann-

The Blackmore Company out of Belleville, MI has multiple types and sizes
of trays and other seeding supplies for both small and large growers.
Here is a link to the tray section on their site. Hope this helps.

Hi All,

I've been searching the archives and haven't found a post on this yet,
but I'm sure they are there and y'all might be tired of this question
over the years. But what is a good source to mail order 6-pack and deep
3 1/2" or 4" pots for starting seedlings? My hodge-podge of recycled
containers are getting old.

Thanks,
Roxann, NW AR

Hi Ken,
Down here in Texas we're hit hard by these critters every year. My wife
and
I have a retail, organic plant nursery and a small market garden. We've
tried everything...pyrethrin, Bioganic, orange oils, Neem, oils, soaps,
garlic/pepper, every organic control under the sun. Nothing really comes
close to controlling them. The only thing that seemed to knock them back
a
little this year was a double dose of Neem.

Any ideas anyone?

Good news for our bean crops this year has been no sightings of Mexican
bean
beetles. Not sure why -- the parasitic wasps last year really kept down
their numbers? Extensive cultivation where last year's crops were?
Dunno.

But glad they're not here!

Bad news is that we've got a new bug on the beans this year, looks to be
leafhoppers. I'm reading up on organic controls... spraying doesn't
sound
easy, since they hang out underneath the leaves (and the leaves are
curling
up)... lacewings sound more attractive... anyone have experience with
organic controls for them?

More re: leafhoppers -- talking with Virginia extension agent Andy
Hankins
last week, he hypothesized that maybe the dry spell earlier this spring
had
something to do with their being a problem this year. (From some of the

reading I've done, the reason for this being that wet conditions
encourage
bacteria that infect the leafhoppers and keep their numbers down.) He
said
getting lacewings probably wouldn't help, since we already have enough
beneficial flowers around to support our own lacewing population. He
recommended 3 possible sprays -- Safer Soap as an immediate
slow-them-down
control, and then, more potently, neem and Beavaria Bassiana
(bacterial).

(Thanks to Pam Dawling for supplementing up my memory on this!)
