In Kansas the law dictates that most items have to be sold by weight. Which in my opinion is the only fair way to sell.

I agree. We generally don't take scales to markets. We do use a scale
in the shed to pre-package, but we don't generally don't advertise any
weights. Shelled peas are the exception; we sell 1lb in 1 pint
ziplocks. OH! We do advertise 1/2lb asparagus packages, too. Right
now, we're doing ~2lb peaches, ~.8lb broccoli, ~2lb onions, and ~1lb
Juliette tomatoes. And 1 pint blackberries.
